They have been our Mission Partners for over 20 years.
Ruth and Paul Turner
Paul and Ruth Turner live in Lima, Peru, working with Latin Link. Jointly they co-ordinate Latin Link's short term mission programmes in Peru: Step and Stride. Step teams come for between 3 weeks and 4 months. Ruth was involved in setting up the project for the STwSS Step teams in 2008 and 2009 before she married Paul. Together they both helped support the team that came out in 2011 and 2014. Striders are individuals who come for between 6 months and 2 years to serve in mission. They are involved in a lot of travelling around Peru as they help set up projects and support personnel.
Paul is Team Leader in Peru and supports Latin Link personnel in all the different projects. Ruth ‘s role involves work on Crisis Management, as well as other areas of responsibility within her member care role, such as integrated personal development and mentoring.
Ruth enjoys reading and card making in any spare time, whilst Paul is a film buff and enjoys running, especially marathons!
Keith and Joyce Wood
Keith and Joyce have served with Overseas Missionary Fellowship OMF since 1983, initially in the Philippines and for more than 20 years in OMF home side ministry in Manchester and Watford. In April 2012 they took up a new challenge within OMF to join the Diaspora Returnee Ministry (DRM). They are involved with academic visitors, mainly from China, in the Manchester area. Highlights for them are the weekly English Corner where there are opportunities for Chinese visitors to find out more about the English way of life and the Christian faith. They help prepare new Chinese Christians to be able to follow their faith once having returned to mainland China. Keith’s ministry involves him in much international travel to support DRM in different parts of the world.
Keith grew up in Balham, and he has had a very long association with the church. Keith and Joyce have been our Mission Partners for over 30 years.
At STwSS we have a Fairtrade team, who sell fairly traded products and broaden people's understanding of, and support for, fair trade. We sell fairly traded food, cards and craft, mostly supplied by Traidcraft, at stalls held after church services, at local fairs and events, and in our homes. The profits are donated to Traidcraft's charitable arm, Traidcraft Exchange. Please visit the Fairtrade and Traidcraft websites for further information about these organisations.
