Young Helper
We are delighted that you are interested in volunteering as a Young Helper on one of our Teams! A Young Helper is anyone who is under 16 years old who is part of one of our teams. Please follow the steps below to complete your Safer Recruitment process. (If you are over 16, you will need to complete our full Safer Recruitment process.)
Please note that volunteers cannot begin their role before all the steps below are complete.

2 - Application Form
Once you have read the Role Description, please complete the Young Helper Application Form.
(You will need an email and phone number for two people to be your references when completing this form)

3 - References
We will now contact your named Referees in relation to your suitability for this role.
4 - Volunteer Interview & Discussion
Once steps 1-4 are complete and have been processed you will be invited for an interview to discuss the role and your suitability for the role. This interview will be with the Ministry Lead and the Ministry Safeguarding Leader.
5 - Safeguarding Awareness
Our church closely follows the guidelines given to us from the Southwark Diocese, 'A Safe Church', in order to protect our children, young people, adults and volunteers.

6 - Risk Assessments
Please familiarise yourself with the relevant risk assessments for the group or activity that you will be involved with.

7 - Agreement
Please complete the relevant Team Agreement form for your team.

8 - Approval Letter
Once the steps above have been successfully completed you will receive a letter of approval for starting your role.
(Please note that volunteers cannot begin their role before all the steps above are complete.)
9 - Induction
Once the Ministry Overseer has confirmed in writing to the PCC that your application process has been approved, you can get started. The Ministry Overseer will now induct you into your role on the Team.

10 - Three Month Review
After three months we will review how you are getting on in your role and whether both parties feel happy to continue your volunteer role.
We will also have an annual review each year.
